I have over twenty years' experience as a Clinical Psychologist and psychotherapist in Evanston. I received my Doctor of Psychology degree (Psy.D.) from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology in 1993 . I completed my psychology internship at the Hines VA Medical Center in Maywood, IL. In addition to my private psychotherapy practice, I’ve worked at an adolescent treatment center, an outpatient community mental health center and as a faculty member in a family medicine residency program. For sixteen years I was the Associate Director of Behavioral Science for the Family Medicine Residency Program at Presence Resurrection Medical Center. In that capacity, I helped train family physicians and worked extensively with patients suffering from both medical and psychological (often stress related) problems. My focus now is conducting adult and adolescent psychotherapy in Evanston.
I use both mindfulness techniques and cognitive behavioral therapy approaches in working with patients. That being said, every person is unique and treatment should not be “one size fits all”. I believe that it’s vitally important that treatment techniques are tailored to the individual patient and the problems he or she wants to work on. I have extensive experience treating patients with a variety of anxiety disorders, depression and mood disorders, adult ADD, adjustment disorders and stress related problems. The core of my approach is to help people unleash their own inner motivation for change.
