I have over twenty years' experience as a Clinical Psychologist and psychotherapist in Evanston. I received my Doctor of Psychology degree (Psy.D.) from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology in 1993 . I completed my psychology internship at the Hines VA Medical Center in Maywood, IL. In addition to my private psychotherapy practice, I’ve worked at an adolescent treatment center, an outpatient community mental health center and as a faculty member in a family medicine residency program. For sixteen years I was the Associate Director of Behavioral Science for the Family Medicine Residency Program at Presence Resurrection Medical Center. In that capacity, I helped train family physicians and worked extensively with patients suffering from both medical and psychological (often stress related) problems. My focus now is conducting adult and adolescent psychotherapy in Evanston.
I use the TEAM-CBT approach to therapeutic change developed by Dr. David Burns, MD. I am level-3 certified in TEAM therapy. TEAM is not a new "school" of therapy, but an approach that uses Testing, Empathy, Assessment of resistance and Methods (TEAM). TEAM uses methods from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and other approaches (mindfulness, humanistic, etc.) to harness an individual's inner motivation to change. Every person is unique and treatment is not “one size fits all”. I believe that it’s vitally important that treatment techniques are tailored to the individual patient and the problems he or she wants to work on. I have extensive experience treating patients with a variety of anxiety disorders, depression and mood disorders, adult ADD, adjustment disorders and stress related problems. The core of my approach is to help people unleash their own inner power to change.
I see clients exclusively via telehealth two-way interactive video. I can see clients who live anywhere in Illinois.
I accept a number of insurance plans, including Blue Cross/Blue Shield PPO and HMO, Aetna, and Medicare. Please check insurance coverage when making your initial appointment.
